    Our four-year-old program prepares your child to get a head start to kindergarten by gaining STEM knowledge and allowing each child to learn at their own pace:

    • Child-directed activities
    • Teacher-guided activities
    • More sophisticated concepts
    • STEM concepts through play

      Must be 4 by September 1st

  • Class Objectives

    In Fours class, children are encouraged to explore their world using play-based activities. Children are given opportunities to work in the areas of science, engineering, technology, and math, expanding their understanding of the world around them. Focus is also given to STEM-based literature, experimentation, and hands-on learning. Some areas of study include the seasons, animals and their habitats, graphing, liquids and solids, space, engineering, and much more! Children are encouraged to ask questions and explore all areas of study in STEM!

      Ms. Mel is coming to our school with years of early education experience including assistant director and senior teaching experience at the centers she has worked at in the past. She has earned her 90 hour Preschool Child Care Certificate for the state of Maryland, and continues to take other continuing education classes to stay up to date on best early childhood education practices. Mel is excited to get the opportunity to take on director roles while still getting to work with children on a daily basis. She got her love of teaching from her mom and continues on in her legacy. She is looking forward to her first year as Director/ Lead Teacher at WLCN!

      Tammie joined WLCN in the fall of 2015. Her son attended WLCN in the 4-year old class, so she is very familiar with the co-op environment. Miss Tammie has four years of experience working with special needs children at a daycare center in Virginia. She has actively volunteered at her children’s schools, and she worked as a substitute teacher for her daughter’s elementary school in Texas. Miss Tammie has a certificate in Surgical Technology from Northern Virginia Community College.
