When I was younger, my brothers and sisters and I would sit on the floor in front of the couch as my mom or dad read chapters from a book every night. It would take about a month or so to complete a book, but we loved this time. We, as kids, anticipated this time every day. I believe that this is where my love of reading began.

Growing up, I always had a book with me. Every chance I got I would open that book and read, whether it was for 30 seconds or 30 minutes! I would go on grand adventures with the characters of the book, fighting with heroes or having conversations with animals.

I love being able to relax and escape for a little while into a book. Other benefits I have found with reading is it can bring a family closer, as it did with my family when I was little and as it did when I would read to my own children. It helps me if I feel stressed. I also find that when I read at night, it helps me relax so I’m better able to fall asleep.

So take a second or a minute or an hour and relax into a book! Let it spark your imagination and relieve some stress!!
